Professional Dog Trainer 

Wild Wags Dog Training is now seeking a passionate and skilled professional dog trainer that focuses on positive reinforcement reward based style training. We understand that every dog has different needs, but we focus on keeping training positive and LIMA compliant. Our ideal candidate will be experiences in animal behavior and training techniques, with the ability to work effectively with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you will be interacting with pet owners to educate them on training methods and best practices for their furry companions.

  • Includes private in home training and group classes. Board and training may be added for the future. TBD

  • Develop and implement personalized training programs for dogs based on their specific needs and behavioral issues.

  • Conduct one-on-one training sessions with dogs and their owners, demonstrating techniques and providing guidance.

  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of each dog throughout the training process, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Educate pet owners on proper handling, care, and training techniques to ensure consistency at home.

  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for both dogs and clients during training sessions.

  • Collaborate with other staff members to provide comprehensive care for pets, including assistance in grooming or veterinary-related tasks when needed.

  • Stay updated on the latest trends in dog training methodologies and animal behavior.

Potential applicant must have:

  • Customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners

  • Hands-on experience training several different types of dogs through various issues such as reactivity, aggression, anxiety, and fear based issues

  • Experience in veterinary medicine, animal rescue, grooming, boarding, daycare, etc is a plus!

  • Relevant professional certifications

  • Be available on weekends and have reliable transportation

  • Be familiar, or be willing to read up on, top positive dog trainers like Dr. Ian Dunbar, Karen Pryor, Pat Miller, Paul Owens, Patricia McConnell

  • Ability to travel to clients homes for each session

Scheduling/Pay:

  • Schedule and pay is based on sessions per week/day

  • Schedule fluctuates. May consist of 10-15 private sessions a week, 1-2 group events, contacting leads, paperwork and documentation

  • Average annual salary for an established dog trainer is $3,000-$10,000 monthly

Expected hours:

  • 15 – 35 per week. Flexible schedule with weekends and evenings required (will rotate)

Experience:

  • Dog training: 1 year (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Goose Creek, SC 29486: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 75% (Required)
